In his current role as the Director General of the National Electricity Authority of Somalia, Abdullahi leads the country's electricity regulation and development. He is instrumental in driving initiatives for solar standardization and improving the national electricity infrastructure. Previously, Abdullahi served as the Projects Coordinator for the UN Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), where he coordinated projects between the Federal Republic of Somalia and UNECA, including Somalia's accession process to the World Trade Organization (WTO), public-private partnership policies, and the development of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) national strategy.

Abdullahi's professional journey also includes roles such as Senior Adviser to the Minister of Commerce & Industry in the Federal Republic of Somalia, where he advised on trade issues, regional integration, policy reforms, and partnership development. He has also managed projects related to energy, farming, and finance at Garaad Farms LTD in Mogadishu, Somalia. Abdullahi's expertise extends to the banking sector, where he has advised on financial policies and strategy planning for Bank Waqaf International in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Abdullahi holds a master’s degree in business administration from the International University of Africa (IUA) in Khartoum, Sudan, and a bachelor’s degree in management, Economics, and Political Science from the same institution. He is fluent in Somali, Arabic, and English
